Turkish Coffee; A Mysterious Invention

Most of the people, who have traveled turkey or have planned, know reputation of Turkish Coffee but there is a point that they don't know; any kind of coffee bean can not be grown up in Turkey.
to call that as turkish coffee is about turkish grinding and cooking style of coffee. At the end of the post I will give you recipe but firstly let's talk about why we can not grow up coffee beans in Turkey and the adventure of coffee that comes from Yemen to Turkey.

Coffee beans grow up on the trees and those trees need a sensitive heat balance. there are two types of coffee bean, one of them is arabica;

                                                                 *the countries can grow up Arabica

and the another type is Robusta;

                                                                 *the countries can grow up Robusta        

none of them can not be grown up in Turkey as can be seen in the figure above. but the meeting of coffee with the turkish nation date backs to 16.th century on the time of Ottoman Empire.

When Sultan Süleyman concuered  Yemen, a pascha(stateman) was assined there. Once he visit Konstantiniyye (the old name of İstanbul in ottoman period),he had brought some coffee beans to the palace. On time it has become a part of pleasure for all kind of Turk that is young and old, poor and rich.

Coffe (pulverized)1 teaspoon2 gr
Sugar1 teaspoon4 gr
Water1 teaspoon60 gr
Preparation
Measure coffee and sugar into a cezve. Add water; stir. Heat over low heat until it is frothy on surface; do not boil. Pour frothy part into demitasse. Place cezve over heat. Bring to rising boil. Pour some more liquid into demitasse again. Heat once more to rising boil. Pour all into demitasse. Serve hot.
